Doctor Who Announcement!!!!!

If you don’t watch the popular BBC America TV show Doctor Who, you probably should go and watch all 777 episodes of Doctor Who before you read this post. (Just kidding. But seriously, watch the show; it’s AMAZING.)

Here’s a quick overview: The Doctor is an alien who was born a thousand years ago on a planet called Gallifrey. He travels through time and space in a blue police box and can regenerate into a new person. The Doctor has companions who travel with him, and as of now, the Doctor is in his eleventh incarnation.

Keep in mind, that was a VERY simplified synopsis. It gets much more complicated than that. But that’s pretty much what you need to know. (And if you do watch Doctor Who, we can rejoice together as fellow Whovians. 🙂 )

On Sunday, August 4, BBC revealed who the twelfth doctor will be. It wasn’t an episode of Doctor Who, and The Doctor hasn’t regenerated yet officially. There was a live broadcast on BBC where, after a huge buildup, they revealed British actor Peter Capaldi as the twelfth doctor.

So this is big news. Ever since the announcement that the eleventh doctor will be regenerating during the 50th anniversary special in November, there has been HUGE speculation as to whom the twelfth doctor will be. So I was super psyched to watch the announcement.

I’m going to miss Matt Smith (the actor who plays the eleventh doctor) a lot. He was my favorite Doctor. I love everything about the eleventh doctor, from his quirky mannerisms to his fez, and it’s going to be really sad to see him go.

But I have high hopes for Peter Capaldi, and I know he’s going to make an awesome doctor. I’ve never heard of him before, but I think he’s been in some TV shows and movies. And maybe it will be a nice change. I think he’s going to be a kind of dark and mysterious Doctor, which will be really interesting.

And I’m really stoked for the 50th anniversary special. I’m hoping the Doctor sees Amy and Rory (two of his companions) again. They were my favorite companions of his, and I was really mad when they left. (Oops…spoilers.)

Newsies and the Splits

A few weeks ago, my family went to see Newsies on broadway. It was amazing! I would definitely recommend that you go see it if you’re in New York. The dancing was probably my favorite part. All those actors are so flexible! The entire time I was watching, all I was thinking was I wish I could dance like that!

I was thinking about Newsies the other day, and it reminded me of an incident that happened a couple of weeks ago at play rehearsal.

So we were warming up at rehearsal, and I was doing my splits. A girl named Rachel who’s kind of a frenemy of mine was next to me, and when she saw my splits (which aren’t all that stellar by the way) she gave a little approving nod and said, “Nice.”

Inside I was thinking something along the lines of: What? How dare you act as if you’re entitled to be the judge of my flexibleness?!?! AVADA KEDAVRA!!!!!!!!! But I just kind of nodded and said something along the lines of: “Thanks.”

I don’t really think Rachel meant too much harm in saying that, but it was still kind of obnoxious. I mean, my splits were much better than hers. She was probably fishing for a compliment, but I wasn’t about to give one.

Anyway…yeah. If you know me, and you know where I live, you should come see the play I’m in! It’s pretty awesome. I’m going to be on vacation the next two weeks–I know, again?! But hey, it’s summer. I’m at home for the rest of the summer after that, and then school is starting, which means I’ll be able to put out more posts because I won’t be on vacation.

Things I’m Bad At

Sorry, it’s been really long since I’ve put out a new post. I’ve just been super busy lately, and on top of that, this post took a while to write.

So, I have decided to make a list of things I’m bad at. Now I’m not doing this to be obnoxious or complain, I just think it will be good self-awareness for me. I am good at a lot of things, but nobody’s perfect. This post might also help you guys feel good about yourselves if you’re good at what I’m bad at. And hopefully, I’m not alone in some of these things.

And now, without further ado, here is the list of things I’m bad at:

  1. Hip Hop: I’m a pretty good dancer overall, but I’m hopeless at all urban styles, mainly hip hop.
  2. Basketball: I have this bad habit of ducking, screaming, and running away whenever there’s a hard rubber ball flying through the air towards my head. And I can’t shoot, either. I lost to a 9-year-old in a game of HORSE!
  3. French braiding my hair: Whenever I try, my hair gets all messed up and turns into a rat’s nest.
  4. Rubik’s cube solving: What? Is there supposed to be some kind of trick to this?!
  5. Gymnastics: I can’t even do a backwards shoulder roll, much less a cartwheel.
  6. Baseball: Again with the balls flying through the air (see #2).
  7. Estimating things: I can’t judge just by looking how far away something is, or how many people there are in a room, or how many jellybeans there are in the jar. I also can’t estimate how much time has passed without looking at a clock.
  8. Time management: I’m usually scrambling at the last minute to finish projects for school.
  9. Temple Run (the iPhone game): Whenever I swipe up to jump over something, it thinks I swiped down to slide under something. Who made this?
  10. Dealing with blood, tears, and/or vomit: When I see one of the afformented substances, I will scream and run out of the room. (Except for tears. Those just make me kind of uncomfortable, and I can’t stand the sound of a crying baby.)

So I hope you enjoyed my list of things I’m bad at. I actually quite enjoyed writing this, and I hope you enjoyed reading it. Feel free to tell me what you’re bad at in the comment section and we can be bad at stuff together! 😉

New Look!

Hey guys!

As I’m sure you figured out, I got a new theme for this blog. It’s called “Splendio”. I hope you like it! (And if you don’t, well, I’m not going to force you to!) 😉

Jenna is out. Peace!

(BTW: I won’t be able to put out a new post next week because I’m going to be on a school trip to Yellowstone National Park. It’s going to be amazing there!)
